It’s Spring. FINALLY! It felt like it would never get here.
Even with a forecast of a late snow storm looming, little blossoms of yellow, purple and pink are appearing through the gray and brown landscape.
Spring brights are very popular in both home & clothing fashion. Here are some favorites to bloom your creativity around your house this Spring:

The Ixtapa outdoor lounge chair from CB2 is light and air...reminiscent of fresh daffodils and the bright, Springtime sky.

Florals are hot, hot, hot for 2013! The new Fabricut Kanapaha Berry fabric features a bouquet of Spring colors, like fuchsia, lilac and fresh green.

The brand new Ethan Allen American Colors Collection features brightly-painted furniture in fresh Springtime hues.

Spring rains are feeding bright green grass and teal spring-water colors, just like in this Alameda Rug by Surya

Pantone® Color of the Year: Emerald
“Lively. Radiant. Lush… A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony.”
Emerald Green is a saturated, exciting color that can be used in any design style–traditional, contemporary, cottage, etc. Psychologically, it invokes feelings of wealth and stature, health and renewal, so what a great color to bring into your home!
You can add touches of Emerald into your room if the overall space is neutral through the balanced use of rugs, lamps and textiles. A great place to start with any pop of color is the rug. Not only does it anchor your conversation area, but it draws your eye to the room’s foundation. Next, play on the green hue in throw pillows. You don’t have to be matchy-matchy. Stay within a shade or two of the hue and you’ll be right on track. And yes, it’s OK to mix patterns–as a matter of fact, it’s much more interesting! To round out the room, add a green glass vase or bright piece of art outside the seating arrangement and at opposite sides of the room to create balance and there you have it!
But how about going all in with a bold base of green paint? I’ve had a personal dream of green walls since my first year of design school. Benjamin-Moore’s “Green Meadows 2040-20″ is a gorgeous, rich green that can set the mood for the room. Temper the vibrancy with touches of sea blue and yellow and natural tones of brown or grey. The palette will likely lift your spirits and invigorate your senses. Aaahhh! Now doesn’t that sound soothing?
Use the above room-starter items to begin your room’s transformation (available through Gina McMurtrey Interiors LLC) or contact us to schedule a consultation on how to bring Emerald in with your existing furnishings.
